Potential ‘Walking Quorum’ at Community Event
📅 October 8, 2026
The district has posted a notice for a ‘Community Coffee’ where a quorum of the Board of Trustees may be present. While the notice states ‘No action of the Board will be taken,’ these informal gatherings can be used for deliberations on public business outside of a formal, recorded meeting, undermining the spirit of the Texas Open Meetings Act.
Response

ATTEND & OBSERVE: Citizens should attend the ‘VA Community Coffee and Conversations’ on October 8. Listen for any discussion of district business among board members and ensure that policy is debated in public meetings, not pre-decided over coffee.
