Heads up, Texas taxpayers: we’ve reviewed the upcoming SOUTHWEST ISD agenda and found 2 items that deserve your attention before the gavel falls.
WATCH (LEVEL 3)
Vague Reimbursements for Board and Superintendent
📅 October 20, 2026
The district’s financial report discloses thousands of dollars in reimbursements to the superintendent and board members under the vague category of ‘Other.’ While some expenses like registration fees are normal, this lack of specificity makes it difficult for taxpayers to see exactly how their money is being spent on official travel and activities.
Response

DEMAND THE DETAILS: During public comments on Item III, ask for a more detailed breakdown of the ‘Other’ reimbursement category for the superintendent and board members. Taxpayers deserve to know exactly what these thousands of dollars in expenses cover.

District Earns Top State Financial Rating
📅 October 20, 2026
Southwest ISD has received a ‘Superior’ rating, the highest possible, from the state’s Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) for the 23rd consecutive year. This indicates strong financial management and stewardship of taxpayer dollars according to the Texas Education Agency’s criteria.
How to Lock It In

AMPLIFY THE WIN: Attend the public hearing on Item II to thank the board and administration for their consistent fiscal responsibility. This sets a high standard for financial transparency and management that other districts should follow.
