Heads up, Texas taxpayers: we’ve reviewed the upcoming SNYDER ISD agenda and found 3 items that deserve your attention before the gavel falls.
| ALERT (LEVEL 8) |

District Paying Lobbying Group for Facility Assessment
The board is reviewing a facility assessment conducted by the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB). TASB is a taxpayer-funded lobbying group that often works against parent and taxpayer interests in Austin. Using local tax dollars to hire TASB for consulting services financially supports their lobbying operations and entrenches them in the district.
Response
DEMAND A RECORDED VOTE: Contact the District Office (see the Official Agenda link for details) and tell the board: ‘Regarding Item 12.B, why is Snyder ISD paying TASB, a lobby group, for consulting? The board should cease all financial relationships with organizations that lobby against taxpayers and find a neutral vendor. This discussion should be held in open session, not behind closed doors in Item 13.A.’
💰 Impact: Undisclosed Consulting Fees

District Slows Public Records Access
The minutes from the September 14th meeting, up for approval under Item 10.A, show the board voted to designate 10 extra ‘non-business days’ for public information requests. This action, allowed by state law, is a choice to make it harder and slower for taxpayers to get public information about their government.
Response
SPEAK UP AT PUBLIC COMMENT: Sign up for Public Comment (Item 8) to address the board’s recent vote documented in the Item 10.A minutes. Ask the board: ‘Why did you vote to maximize delays for public information requests? Please reconsider this anti-transparency policy and commit to the fastest possible release of public records.’
💰 Impact: Reduced Public Access

Taxpayer-Funded Lobby Group Training
Hidden in the check register (an attachment to Consent Agenda Item 10.B) is a payment to the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) for a ‘Tax Rate Adoption Workshop.’ Like TASB, TASBO is an association that lobbies the legislature, often for policies that increase costs for taxpayers. This payment uses public funds to support their operations.
Response
PULL FROM CONSENT: Contact the District Office (see the Official Agenda link for details) and tell the board: ‘Pull Item 10.B from the Consent Agenda for a separate vote. Why is the district sending taxpayer money to TASBO, an association that lobbies in Austin? Please explain check #202501692 and adopt a policy against funding lobby groups.’
💰 Impact: $175.00
