Public Hearing on Your New Property Tax Bill
📅 Public Hearing August 25, 2026
Rusk ISD is holding its public hearing to present the proposed budget and property tax rate for the 2026-2027 school year. This is the primary opportunity for taxpayers to see if the district plans to increase the total amount of taxes collected. Due to rising property values, even an unchanged or slightly lower tax rate can result in a significantly higher tax bill for homeowners.
Response

ATTEND THE HEARING: Show up on August 25th to ask the board two critical questions during public comments: 1) What is the ‘no-new-revenue’ tax rate that would collect the same amount of money as last year? 2) How does your proposed rate compare, and what is the total dollar and percentage increase in the tax levy you are asking for?

💰 Impact: Potential for a property tax levy increase, resulting in higher tax bills for residents.
