WARNING (LEVEL 7)
Board to Vote on Library Books by Activist Authors
📅 November 2, 2026
The Pottsboro ISD board will vote on new library book acquisitions under Item III.A. The proposed lists include ‘Barracoon,’ with a foreword by Critical Race Theory proponent Ibram X. Kendi, for the high school, and ‘I am Billie Jean King,’ a biography of the political activist, for the elementary school. These selections risk politicizing school libraries with taxpayer money.
Response

DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: Contact the Pottsboro ISD Board of Trustees before the November 2nd meeting (see district website for contact info). ‘Regarding Item III.A, I am concerned about the inclusion of politically-charged books on the proposed acquisition lists, such as those associated with Ibram X. Kendi and other activist figures. I request this item be discussed openly and that the board vote on each campus list separately.’
