District Reports on Taxpayer-Funded Lobbying Activities
๐Ÿ“… September 28, 2026
The Board President will report on meetings with the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) under item X.B. TASB is a taxpayer-funded organization that lobbies the Texas Legislature for policies that often lead to higher property taxes and work against parental rights.
Response

USE PUBLIC COMMENT: Sign up for Public Testimony (Item V) and ask the board how much taxpayer money is spent on annual dues to TASB. ‘Taxpayers should not be forced to fund a lobby that works against their interests in Austin. Please post a record of TASB’s legislative positions that our district is funding.’

Vote on ‘District Improvement Plan’ with No Public Document
๐Ÿ“… September 28, 2026
The board is scheduled to vote on the 2026-2027 District Improvement Plan, but the plan itself has not been attached to the public agenda. These high-level plans can be used to introduce controversial Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) or DEI initiatives without proper public scrutiny.
Response

DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: Contact the Northwest ISD Board of Trustees (see the district website for contact info): ‘The public cannot evaluate Agenda Item VIII.B, the District Improvement Plan, without seeing the document. Please postpone the vote until the full plan is published for community review.’

Review of High School Academic Guide Without Public Document
๐Ÿ“… September 28, 2026
The board will discuss the 2027-2028 High School Academic Planning Guide, which dictates course offerings and curriculum. The guide has not been made public, preventing parents from reviewing it for potential ideological content or changes to core academic standards before the board discusses it.
Response

PUT THEM ON NOTICE: Contact the Northwest ISD Board of Trustees (see the district website for contact info): ‘Regarding Item VIII.D, parents expect the full Academic Planning Guide to be made public well in advance of any future vote. We must have time to review the curriculum you are planning for our children.’
