Board to Discuss Election System Changes in Secret
The Board is meeting in a closed, secret session to discuss changing the district’s election system to single-member districts. This process can be used to draw lines that protect incumbents and pre-determine election outcomes, and it should be conducted in the open for maximum public scrutiny.
Response
DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: Contact the Board (see the Official Agenda link for details): ‘The public has a right to observe all deliberations regarding changes to our election system. Move the discussion of Item 7.1, single member districts, into the open session.’
π° Impact: Reduced Voter Power

District Approving Policy from Anti-Taxpayer Lobby Group
The Board is set to approve policy updates recommended by the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) as part of the Consent Agenda. Mansfield ISD uses taxpayer money to pay dues to TASB, which then uses those funds to lobby the state legislature against property tax relief and for policies that expand government control.
Response
DEMAND A RECORDED VOTE: Contact the Board (see the Official Agenda link for details): ‘Pull Consent Item 12.6 for a separate discussion and recorded vote. Taxpayers deserve to know why we fund TASB’s lobbying efforts against our interests.’
π° Impact: Taxpayer-Funded Lobbying

Proposed Policy Change Limits Parent Appeals
A proposed change to the district’s bullying policy (FFI LOCAL) would make the decision of an unelected administrator “final” in an appeal. This change removes the final step of appealing to the elected Board of Trustees, reducing accountability and making it harder for parents to have their concerns heard by the officials they elect.
Response
DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY: Contact the Board (see the Official Agenda link for details): ‘Regarding the FFI (LOCAL) policy update in Item 12.6, I urge you to amend the policy to ensure parents can appeal bullying investigation outcomes to the full, elected Board of Trustees.’
π° Impact: Reduced Accountability

District Codifies Protections Against DEI
New policy language explicitly prohibits “diversity, equity, and inclusion duties prohibited by law” as grounds for superintendent non-renewal (BJCF LOCAL). Another update (EHBB LOCAL) bans the use of race, ethnicity, sex, or socioeconomic status in selecting students for the Gifted and Talented program, ensuring merit-based selection.
How to Secure It
AMPLIFY THE WIN: Show up to the meeting to thank the Board for adopting these important anti-DEI protections in Item 12.6. Get this on the record so it becomes the new standard for neighboring school districts.
