School Security Audit May Go Behind Closed Doors
📅 November 2, 2026
The board will discuss the findings of an Intruder Detection Audit and may move the entire discussion into a closed session, citing a security exemption. While some security details must be private, this prevents taxpayers from knowing what problems were found and how their money will be spent to fix them.
Response

DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: Contact the Laredo ISD board (see the Official Agenda link for contact details): ‘Regarding Item 1, I urge you to hold as much of the Intruder Detection Audit discussion in open session as legally possible. The public deserves to know the general findings and how you plan to spend our tax dollars to ensure student safety, even if specific security plans are discussed privately.’
