Board Policy Restricts Public Comment
The district’s policy, BED(Local), requires citizens to register by 5 PM the day before a meeting to speak. This rule prevents taxpayers who learn of an issue on the day of the vote from addressing the board, effectively silencing last-minute community feedback.
Response
Contact the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees: ‘Board Policy BED(Local) requiring registration the day before a meeting disenfranchises busy parents and taxpayers. Please amend this policy to allow for same-day, in-person registration for public comment.’
💰 Impact: Reduced Public Access

Federal ‘Improvement’ Plans for 25+ Schools
The board will discuss state and federally mandated ‘Targeted Improvement Plans’ (TIPs) for dozens of campuses, some tied to the LASO grant. These plans can introduce outside control over curriculum and create permanent funding obligations for taxpayers long after the initial grant money is gone.
Response
Email the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees: ‘Regarding Item 5.01, what specific curriculum, data collection, and staffing mandates are included in the TIPs and LIPs? Taxpayers must see the full long-term cost and policy strings before these plans are approved.’
