Heads up, taxpayers and parents: We’ve audited the upcoming CROSBYTON CISD agenda. There are 2 items targeting parental consent and taxpayer funds that need your immediate attention before the gavel falls.
⚠️ Warning (LEVEL 8)
Discussion of 2026-2027 Property Tax Rate
📅 August 25, 2026
The Crosbyton CISD board is holding a special meeting to discuss the proposed property tax rate for the 2026-2027 school year. This is the most critical meeting for homeowners’ wallets. Any rate adopted above the ‘no-new-revenue’ rate constitutes a property tax increase, even if the rate itself is advertised as a ‘cut’ or ‘no change’.
Response

SHOW UP & SPEAK UP: Attend the meeting and use the Open Forum to ask the board two questions: 1. ‘What is the no-new-revenue tax rate for this year?’ and 2. ‘Is the proposed rate higher than the no-new-revenue rate?’ Urge them to adopt the no-new-revenue rate to prevent a tax hike on families and businesses.

💰 Impact: A potential property tax increase if the board proposes a rate higher than the no-new-revenue rate.
⚠️ Warning (LEVEL 7)
Discussion of 2026-2027 School Budget
📅 August 25, 2026
Alongside the tax rate, the board will discuss the proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The budget determines the level of spending that your property taxes must cover. This is the time for taxpayers to scrutinize spending priorities before they are locked in for the year.
Response

DEMAND THE DETAILS: Contact the Crosbyton CISD administration office before the meeting to request a copy of the proposed line-item budget. Ask the board during public comment to identify the largest spending increases from the previous year and to justify them to taxpayers.

💰 Impact: Increased spending on non-essential programs or administration which directly leads to higher property taxes.
