ALERT (LEVEL 10)
Board to Vote on Issuing Bonds with No Dollar Amount
📅 October 22, 2026
The board is set to approve an order to issue millions in new ‘unlimited tax school building bonds’ from a 2023 voter authorization. However, the official bond order document has a blank space where the dollar amount should be, effectively asking the board to sign a blank check for an unknown amount of new debt.
Response

PACK THE ROOM: Demand the board table Item 9.B until the exact dollar amount of the new debt is filled in and made public. Contact the board via the district office (see the Official Agenda link): ‘Voting on a bond order with a blank principal amount is a breach of public trust. Fill in the blanks on Item 9.B or vote NO.’

💰 Impact: Undisclosed Bond Amount
WARNING (LEVEL 7)
District Spent $3,730 for Lobby Group Conference
📅 October 22, 2026
The board will debrief its attendance at the TASA/TASB conference, an event for which district check registers show a payment of $3,730. The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) is a taxpayer-funded lobbying group that regularly opposes property tax relief and advocates for higher government spending in Austin.
Response

SPEAK UP during Public Comments (Item 6): Ask the board to justify spending taxpayer money to attend a conference hosted by TASB, an organization that lobbies against taxpayer interests. ‘Why are we funding organizations like TASB that work against property tax relief for Coupland families?’

💰 Impact: $3,730 for Lobby Group Conference
