Vote to Set the 2026-2027 Property Tax Rate
The Board of Trustees will vote to set the Maintenance & Operations (M&O) and Interest & Sinking (I&S) tax rates, which will determine the school district portion of every property owner’s tax bill. Due to rising property values, even a so-called ‘lower’ or ‘no-change’ tax rate can result in a significant tax increase for homeowners. This is the most important fiscal vote of the year for taxpayers.
Response
PACK THE ROOM: This is the vote that sets your school property tax bill. Show up on August 27th and sign up to speak. Contact the Board of Trustees via the district website and demand they adopt the ‘no-new-revenue’ tax rate to prevent a tax hike.
π° Impact: Potential tax levy increase above the no-new-revenue rate.

Undisclosed Budget Amendments
The board is scheduled to vote on unspecified amendments to the budget. While some amendments are routine, this agenda item provides no details about what money is being moved, where it’s going, or why. This lack of transparency prevents public scrutiny of last-minute spending changes.
Response
DEMAND THE DETAILS: Before the vote on Item 9, contact the Board of Trustees via the district website. Ask for the full details of the proposed budget amendments, including dollar amounts and justifications, to be posted online for public review.
π° Impact: Undisclosed spending amounts and purposes.

District Certifies Compliance with State Ban on DEI
The board is taking action to approve policy updates and certify its compliance with state law prohibiting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives. This is a positive step toward ensuring the district remains focused on academics and merit, not on politically divisive agendas.
How to Secure It
Monitor: This is a positive step in accountability. Taxpayers can contact the board to thank them for certifying compliance with state law and encourage them to remain vigilant against mission creep.
