WARNING (LEVEL 7)
District to Adopt Official Lobbying Platform
📅 October 19, 2026
The board will vote to approve its official legislative priorities for the 90th Texas Legislature under Item 7.A. This action formalizes the district’s lobbying efforts, using taxpayer resources to influence state lawmakers, often for policies that increase spending or reduce local control. The specific priorities the district will lobby for are not disclosed in the agenda, preventing public review before the vote.
Response

DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: Contact the Bridgeport ISD Board (see the Official Agenda link for contact details): ‘Regarding Item 7.A, please publish the full list of proposed Legislative Priorities online before the vote. Taxpayers have a right to know what political positions the district is taking in our name and with our money.’

Vague ‘District of Innovation’ Plan Amendment
📅 October 19, 2026
The board is voting to amend its ‘District of Innovation’ plan, which grants exemptions from state education laws. The agenda synopsis for Item 8.A does not specify which laws the district wants to be exempt from, preventing public scrutiny of changes that could affect teacher certification standards, class sizes, or the school calendar.
