This is the single most important meeting for taxpayers to voice their opinion on how much the district plans to spend and how high their property tax bills will be. Often, these hearings are scheduled to adopt a rate higher than the ‘no-new-revenue’ rate, which is a tax increase on homeowners even if the rate itself is advertised as a ‘cut’ due to rising property values.
