Heads up! We have scanned the upcoming agenda for Washington Unified. We found 3 items that need your immediate attention before the vote.
| HIGH CONCERN (LEVEL 10) |

Gender Ideology Taught Without Parental Opt-Out
The district is revising its “Sexual Health” policy (6142.1) to include instruction on “gender identity” and “gender expression.” The fine print creates a loophole that prevents parents from opting their children out of these specific lessons, even if they opt-out of the main sex-ed curriculum.
Recommended Action Plan
PACK THE ROOM: This is a direct assault on parental rights. Contact the District Office (see the Official Agenda link) and demand the Board vote NO on the revisions to Item D.1.a.2, Policy 6142.1. Tell them: ‘Parents must have the right to opt their children out of ALL instruction on sexuality and gender. Close the opt-out loophole.’

New Policy Limits Political Activism by Teachers
The district is updating its policy on political activities for employees (4119.25). The new rules would prohibit staff from using district resources for political campaigns, wearing political buttons or clothing during instructional time, and presenting one-sided political views in the classroom.
How to Lock It In
SUPPORT THIS WIN: Contact the District Office (see the Official Agenda link) to thank the Board for this common-sense policy. Say: ‘Thank you for supporting Item D.1.a.1, Policy 4119.25. Keeping political activism out of the classroom protects students and allows them to learn without partisan pressure. Please pass this policy.’

Opportunity to Limit Student Screen Time
The district is beginning the process of creating a policy to manage student screen time. They are reviewing sample policies from other districts that limit device use, prioritize physical textbooks, and give parents more control over take-home devices.
How to Lock It In
SHAPE THE POLICY: This is our chance to get a strong screen time policy. Contact the District Office (see the Official Agenda link) before the meeting: ‘Regarding Item D.1.a.4, I strongly support developing a screen time policy based on the LAUSD and SDUSD models. Please prioritize parental opt-outs, limits on non-instructional screen time, and the use of physical textbooks.’
