While these can be legitimate tools for students with special needs, they are also used in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and behavioral programs that can operate without full parental transparency or consent.

ASK FOR THE POLICY: Contact the District Office (see the Official Agenda link for contact info). Ask: ‘Regarding the new calming room at the Middle School, please provide the board policy that governs its use. Which staff can place a child there, for what reasons, and what is the parental notification protocol for each use?’
