HIGH CONCERN (LEVEL 8)
$680M Bond Hides $64.8M for Student Technology
πŸ“… November 3, 2026
The board is presenting an $832.3 million capital program, funded by a $680 million bond on the November 3rd ballot. Buried inside this massive spending plan is $64.8 million for ‘Student/staff computers and school network infrastructure.’ The district has not provided evidence that this technology spending will improve academic outcomes, nor has it detailed how much it will increase student screen time.
Recommended Action Plan

DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: This bond will be on the November 3rd ballot. Before then, contact the Board (see the Official Agenda link for contact info): ‘Regarding the 2026 Construction Bond, I demand a detailed breakdown of the $64.8 million for technology. Please publish the evidence showing these purchases improve academic results and disclose the expected increase in daily student screen time before this goes to voters.’

πŸ’° Impact: $64.8M (Increased Screen Time)
NEEDS REVIEW (LEVEL 6)
District Plans to Lease Elementary School Land for Cell Tower
πŸ“… October 20, 2026
The board is voting to approve a long-term lease with company APC-EDGE to build a wireless telecommunications tower on the campus of Brassfield Elementary. While the district will receive revenue, local residents have already raised serious concerns about RF exposure, student safety, and property values, which the vendor’s presentation attempts to dismiss.
Recommended Action Plan

ATTEND & SPEAK UP: The committee will recommend this for a full board vote on October 20. Parents, especially from Brassfield Elementary, should contact the Board (see the Official Agenda link for contact info): ‘Regarding Item VII, I oppose placing a cell tower at an elementary school. The board must prioritize student safety over vendor reassurances and seek independent health impact data before leasing school property.’

πŸ’° Impact: Student Safety Concerns
