New Handbook Policy Protects Single-Sex Private Spaces
📅 August 18, 2026
A summary of changes to the 2026-2027 Student & Parent Handbook reveals a new section designating ‘multiple-occupancy private spaces for use only by individuals of one sex.’ This is a crucial victory for protecting student privacy and safety in bathrooms and locker rooms.
How to Lock It In

SECURE THIS WIN: Show up to thank the Board for the new handbook language in Item VI.J. protecting single-sex spaces. Publicly praising this makes it harder to reverse and creates a strong model policy for neighboring districts to adopt.

✅ Why It Matters: Student Privacy Protected
Major Win (LEVEL 8)
District Invests in ‘Science of Reading’ Phonics Program
📅 August 18, 2026
The board is approving a purchase of up to $180,000 for the ’95 Phonics’ program, which is explicitly aligned with the ‘science of reading.’ This is a major win for students, replacing failed literacy theories with a proven, systematic approach to ensure children learn to read effectively.
How to Lock It In

APPLAUD THIS MOVE: Email the Board (contact info on district website) to thank them for approving Item V.M. and investing in a ‘science of reading’ curriculum. This sets a precedent for returning to core academics and is a model for other districts.

✅ Why It Matters: $180,000 (Title I Funds)
