The School Safety Committee agenda lists a ‘Tier System’ under ‘Intruder Detection.’ While this could be about physical security, the term ‘Tiered System’ is also the foundation for the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) model, which is often used to implement behavioral and mental health interventions without full parental consent. The district has provided no documents explaining what this system entails, leaving parents in the dark about whether this is about school safety or student surveillance.
Recommended Action Plan

DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: Contact the District Office and ask: ‘Please publicly post all documents related to Agenda Item 3.A.1, the ‘Tier System,’ and Item 3.C.3, the ‘EOP Major Revisions,’ before the August 6th committee meeting. Parents have a right to review safety and intervention plans.’ Advise members to verify contact details on the district website.
