The Board is hearing a legal challenge (Item 3.1) from a student transportation vendor, First Student, that was disqualified for refusing to provide a 10-year history of all discrimination complaints, including those based on ‘gender identity or expression.’ This reveals a district policy (6.144(14)) that forces a DEI litmus test on all companies, potentially prioritizing a social agenda over the best service and price for special needs students.
Recommended Action Plan

ATTEND THE HEARING: The Board will vote on the final order for Item 3.1. Contact the School Board (see the Official Agenda link for contact details) and demand to know why Policy 6.144(14) is being used to create a DEI litmus test for vendors. ‘Focus on the safety of special needs students and the best use of taxpayer dollars, not on a company’s social record.’
