The district’s public comment policy requires parents to get pre-approval from the Superintendent and Board President just to speak about an agenda item. This same ‘approval’ is required to get a topic placed on the agenda. This is a gatekeeping tactic that allows two individuals to decide which parents get to speak and what topics are ‘allowed’ for discussion, effectively silencing dissent before it can be heard.
Recommended Action Plan

DEMAND YOUR RIGHT TO SPEAK: Contact the Oxford School Board and demand the removal of the ‘approval’ clause from all public comment and agenda-setting policies. The Superintendent and Board President should not have veto power over a parent’s right to address their elected officials. Public comment is a right, not a privilege granted by bureaucrats. Verify board member emails on the district website.
