This is a system that allows schools to screen all students for behavioral and emotional ‘problems’ and then apply interventions, often without direct, opt-in parental consent. This framework is the primary vehicle for implementing Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and psychological profiling in the classroom, turning teachers and counselors into data miners of your child’s private emotional state.

DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: This is more than an ‘Instructional Presentation.’ Email Karlie Rittenhouse at krittenhouse@nvps.net and call the district at 616.365.6151. Ask: ‘What specific behavioral and emotional screeners will be used on students under the MTSS framework in Item 4.C? Will parents have the right to opt their children out in writing before any screening occurs?’
