The district is updating its process for placing gifted students in accelerated classes under Item 4.a. However, the criteria include a subjective ‘social-emotional readiness’ assessment, which could be used to deny academically qualified students advancement based on non-academic, behavioral metrics.
Recommended Action Plan

DEMAND CLARITY: Contact the Board (see the Official Agenda link for details) and ask: ‘Regarding Item 4.a, what specific, objective, and publicly available rubric will be used to assess ‘social-emotional readiness’ for the Accelerated Placement Program? Parents must have transparency on any non-academic criteria used to deny a child academic opportunities.’
