Heads up! Our parent watchdogs have scanned the upcoming agenda for North Canton City, City School District. We found 2 items that need your immediate attention before the vote.
|
🚨 HIGH CONCERN (LEVEL 8)
|
|
Nearly $1 Million in Unspecified Spending
The board is approving a budget shift of almost $1 million into vague categories called "Purchased Services" and "Supplies" with zero itemized detail. This is a classic shell game used to fund controversial consultants, student surveys, or ideological curriculum without public scrutiny.
Recommended Action Plan
DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: Email Treasurer Eric Bornstine at eric.bornstine@northcantonschools.org and Superintendent Tim Walker at tim.walker@northcantonschools.org: 'I demand a detailed, public breakdown of the $440,000 for Purchased Services and $540,000 for Supplies in Item E.1 before any vote. Taxpayers deserve to know exactly where our money is going.'
💰 Taxpayer Impact: $980,000 in taxpayer funds with no public oversight.

⚠️ NEEDS REVIEW (LEVEL 6)
|
|
Vague Budget Vote Hides Future Spending
The Board is voting on a "Temporary Appropriations" measure for the entire next school year. The details are buried in a dense financial document attached to the agenda with no public discussion. This is a classic move to approve next year's spending priorities, including potential SEL or DEI programs, without scrutiny.
Recommended Action Plan
INVESTIGATE: Review the 'FY27 Temporary Appropriations.pdf' file attached to Item E.3 in the official agenda. Email Treasurer Eric Bornstine at eric.bornstine@northcantonschools.org: 'Please pull Item E.3 for a separate discussion. What new programs or vendors are funded in this temporary budget?'
💰 Taxpayer Impact: Loss of Local Control over future spending.
