MONITOR (LEVEL 5)
District Pushing ‘Early Start’ School Year for 2027-28
📅 November 2, 2026
The district is discussing an ‘Early Start’ calendar for the 2027-28 school year, citing benefits for AP testing alignment. Meeting minutes from Oct. 19 show this committee already voted to send a ‘School Start Date Waiver Request’ to the full board, indicating this is moving forward quickly. This change significantly impacts family schedules, vacations, and childcare, and is advancing without broad parental input.
Recommended Action Plan

WEIGH IN NOW: The school calendar impacts every family. Contact the Board (see the Official Agenda link for contact info) regarding Item 3.C: ‘Parents must be included in any discussion about changing the school start date. We ask that the Board pause the ‘School Start Date Waiver Request’ until a formal public comment period is held.’
