District Begins Planning for AI Implementation

Under Item 6.A.2, the Superintendent reports the district has begun an “AI readiness audit” to assess opportunities related to artificial intelligence. This is the first step toward bringing AI into the classroom, which could introduce new forms of student surveillance and data collection without parental consent.
Recommended Action Plan

ASK QUESTIONS NOW: Contact the Superintendent’s office (see the Official Agenda link) and ask to be kept informed about the ‘AI readiness’ team mentioned in the Superintendent’s Report (Item 6.A.2). Ask: ‘What specific AI applications are being considered, what data will be collected on students, and how will parents be involved in approving these technologies before they are adopted?’
