AI in the Classroom: A Backdoor for Unvetted Content?

The board is voting to approve a ‘Staff PD Training Agreement’ with SchoolAI Inc., an artificial intelligence company, under the consent agenda with no public discussion. While the initial contract is small ($500), it opens the door for AI to generate lesson plans and student materials that bypass parental and board curriculum review. We have no information on the ideological biases programmed into this AI or what student and teacher data it will collect.

Recommended Action Plan

DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: Call the District Office at (740) 335-3010 and email Treasurer Cari May at cawilson@mtpanthers.org. Demand that Item 2.B.3, the ‘SchoolAI Staff PD Training Agreement,’ be pulled from the Consent Agenda for a full discussion and a separate vote. Ask them: Who vetted this AI for political bias? What data will it collect? How will parents review AI-generated curriculum?
