Board Member Active on State-Level ‘Diversity & Equity’ Committee
The minutes from the August 25th meeting, included in this agenda’s attachments (Att. #8), reveal that Board President Sue Groszek serves on the Ohio School Boards Association’s ‘Diversity & Equity Committee.’ This indicates a direct pipeline for state-level DEI initiatives to be introduced into our local district policies.
Recommended Action Plan
Call Board President Sue Groszek at (440) 995-6800: ‘I saw in the meeting minutes that you serve on the OSBA Diversity & Equity Committee. What specific policies is this committee promoting, and do you intend to bring those policies to Mayfield Schools for a vote?’

New ‘Remedial Services’ Vendor Offers Full Suite of Psych Services
Item 11.C approves a contract with PSI Associates, LLC for a ‘Title I Teacher.’ However, the attached contract (Att. #10) shows this vendor also offers a full menu of psychological, social work, and intervention services, which are often used to implement SEL and student surveillance (MTSS) without full parental consent. This small contract could be a ‘foot in the door’ for a much larger, more invasive student services program.
Recommended Action Plan
Email Superintendent Michael Barnes at mbarnes@mayfieldschools.org: ‘Regarding Item 11.C, what is the full scope of services offered by PSI Associates? I demand to know what student data will be collected under this ‘intervention’ model and with whom it will be shared before you approve this contract.’

Board Caps All Public Comment at 30 Minutes Total
The board’s policy 0169.1, detailed under item 4.A, limits the entire public comment period to a maximum of 30 minutes per meeting, regardless of how many parents wish to speak. This rule can be used to shut down parent feedback on controversial topics before everyone has a chance to be heard.
Recommended Action Plan
Call the Board at (440) 995-6800 and email Superintendent Michael Barnes at mbarnes@mayfieldschools.org: ‘Regarding Policy 0169.1, the 30-minute aggregate time limit for public comment is insufficient. I urge you to remove this cap to ensure all parents who take the time to show up are heard.’
