🚨 HIGH CONCERN (LEVEL 9)
Installing a Student Surveillance System
📅 July 16, 2026
Under the cover of an attendance update, the Board is voting to approve policies JED and JEDA, which formally install a ‘Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)’. This isn’t about truancy; it’s a data-gathering framework that allows the district to use ‘universal screening’ and ‘early warning systems’ to flag students for behavioral and psychological interventions. This system creates ‘Absence Intervention Teams’ to target students and families, potentially leading to home visits and services you never asked for, all bypassing specific parental consent.
Recommended Action Plan

PACK THE ROOM: This is the architecture for student surveillance. Sign up for public comment. Call Board President Bill Keck at (937) 578-6100 and tell him: ‘Vote NO on policies JED and JEDA. I do not consent to an MTSS surveillance system being used on my child.’

💰 Taxpayer Impact: Loss of parental oversight on student interventions.
⚠️ NEEDS REVIEW (LEVEL 5)
Opening the Door to SEL and Student Activism
📅 July 16, 2026
The Board is adopting its ‘Work Plan’ for the year, which includes several red flags under Item 8.1. It calls for monitoring ‘student well-being’ and using ‘research-based practices’ that foster ‘resilience’ and ‘relationships’ — all common code words for Social Emotional Learning (SEL). The plan also aims to ‘establish student representation to the Board,’ a tactic often used to inject student activism into policy-making, bypassing parents.
Recommended Action Plan

PUT THEM ON NOTICE: This plan sets a troubling direction. Call Board Vice President Nan Savidge at (937) 578-6100 and ask: ‘What specific SEL programs are hidden behind the language of ‘well-being’ and ‘resilience’ in the Board’s new Work Plan? And why are you trying to add student activists to the board instead of listening to parents?’

💰 Taxpayer Impact: Prioritizing social-emotional programming over academics and creating a platform for student political activism.
