District Embeds ‘Equity’ and ‘Wellness’ Ideology into Core Budget Plan

Under the cover of a financial planning workshop (Item 5.2), the district is building its entire budget framework around ideological concepts instead of pure academics. The Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) and budget ‘Guiding Principles’ explicitly prioritize spending on ‘Culturally Affirming Education,’ ‘racial equity,’ and school-based ‘Wellness Centers.’ This means tax dollars will be funneled to social programs and identity politics rather than being focused on reversing the district’s steep decline in student enrollment and academic achievement.
Recommended Action Plan

This is a foundational plan that will direct all future spending. Contact the Board of Education before the Oct 7th meeting (see the Official Agenda link for contact info): ‘Regarding Item 5.2, I am concerned that the LCAP and Guiding Principles prioritize ideological concepts over academic excellence. Please provide a public definition for ‘Culturally Affirming Education’ and explain how it improves reading and math scores before this framework is advanced.’
