NEEDS REVIEW (LEVEL 7)
Board to Appoint New Member Behind Closed Doors
📅 October 7, 2026
The board is holding a private ‘Executive Session’ to select and appoint a person to fill a vacant public office, which is almost certainly a seat on the school board itself. This process bypasses a special election, preventing parents and taxpayers from having a direct vote on who will represent them and make decisions about their children’s education.
Recommended Action Plan

DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: An unelected board member could cast the deciding vote on critical policies. Contact the District Office (see the Official Agenda link for contact info) and demand the Board publicly name all candidates being considered for the vacant seat and explain the selection process before any appointment is made. Ask them: ‘Regarding Item D, we demand a transparent process for filling the board vacancy. Who are the candidates and when will the public be allowed to hear from them before you vote?’
