Superintendent Can Appoint Unlimited Members to Tax Oversight Committee

The bylaws for the Measure LC Parcel Tax Oversight Committee contain a loophole (Section 4.02.e) allowing the Superintendent to add an unlimited number of members at their discretion. This could be used to stack the committee with district allies, diluting the voice of the four required parent members and undermining the committee’s purpose of independent oversight.
Recommended Action Plan

Contact the Board (see the Official Agenda link for contact details): ‘Regarding Item 4, the Parcel Tax Bylaws, I am concerned about Section 4.02.e. Please amend the bylaws to cap the number of members the Superintendent can appoint, to protect the integrity of parent and community representation on this important oversight committee.’
