ALERT (LEVEL 4)
New ‘Nonviolent’ Student Behavior Training
📅 October 15, 2026
The board is reviewing a ‘Nonviolent Crisis Intervention’ (NCI) training for staff focused on ‘behavior prevention’ and ‘de-escalation.’ This could introduce new, non-traditional discipline methods that may reduce accountability for disruptive students and impact classroom learning for all.
Recommended Action Plan

ASK QUESTIONS: This is a work session, the perfect time to get answers before a policy is made. Contact the School Board (see the Official Agenda link for contact info): ‘Regarding Item B, the CPI/NCI Training Overview, what specific de-escalation and restraint techniques are taught? How will this training change the student code of conduct, and will parents be notified every time these interventions are used on their child?’
