Board President Given Power to Censor Parents
New rules for public comment allow the Board President to “immediately address” any comments they deem “inaccurate or inappropriate.” This subjective rule could be used to publicly correct, intimidate, and silence parents who criticize district policies.
Recommended Action Plan
DEMAND CLARIFICATION: Contact the District Office (see the Official Agenda link): ‘Item B.5 gives the Board President subjective power to shut down speakers. We demand objective, viewpoint-neutral rules for public comment that protect parents’ right to be heard without intimidation.’
