Board Considers Secret Process for Hiring New Chief

The board is meeting with a search firm to decide the process for hiring the next Chief Administrator. One option on the table is a ‘fully closed search,’ which would hide the identities of all candidates, including finalists, from parents and the public. This would prevent any community vetting of the person who will control our schools’ policies and curriculum.

TAKE ACTION: The board is deciding the rules for hiring the next Chief. Before the Oct. 14 meeting, email the Grant Wood AEA Board (contact info on the district website): ‘I demand a fully transparent search process for the new Chief Administrator. Finalists’ names must be made public for community review before a vote.’ Also, complete the Stakeholder Survey at https://tinyurl.com/GWStakeholderSurvey to demand a candidate who prioritizes parental rights and academic excellence.
