MONITOR (LEVEL 5)
Vague ‘Alternative Education’ Workshop Planned
📅 October 19, 2026
The board is holding a workshop on ‘Alternative Educational Programming.’ This vague term could be a cover for introducing non-academic or ideological programs like social-emotional learning (SEL) or restorative justice, diverting focus and resources from core subjects.
Recommended Action Plan

ASK FOR CLARITY: This is a workshop, the perfect time to ask questions before a bad policy is written. Attend the workshop and contact the Board (see the Official Agenda link for contact details) to ask: ‘What specific programs fall under Item 6, ‘Alternative Educational Programming’? Will any proposed programs be based on Social Emotional Learning or Restorative Practices, and how will parents be able to review all materials and opt their children out?’
