NEEDS REVIEW (LEVEL 6)
Who Will Choose the Next Superintendent?
📅 November 2, 2026
The board is hearing presentations from two organizations, K12 and the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA), to run the search for the next superintendent under items 2.1 and 3.1. The choice of search firm often determines the type of candidates the board sees, which will shape the district’s direction for years. The presentation documents were not included in the public agenda.
Recommended Action Plan

ATTEND & ASK QUESTIONS: The superintendent search is the most important decision the board will make. Call the Board of Education at (740) 369-8735 and email Superintendent Richard Stranges at rstranges@mybvls.org to ask: ‘What are the key qualifications and leadership philosophies you are looking for in our next superintendent? Please ensure the community has a chance to provide input on these criteria before a search firm is hired.’
