MONITOR (LEVEL 5)

Secret Staffing Decisions Made Behind Closed Doors

📅 October 12, 2026

The Board is recessing into a closed-door ‘Executive Session’ to make decisions about the ‘appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion or compensation’ of a school employee. This process shields a potentially major staffing decision from public view, preventing parents from weighing in on who is leading their children’s schools until after the fact.

Recommended Action Plan

DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: The Board should state the position being discussed before closing the doors. Call Board President Kelli Krall at (216) 485-8100 and ask: ‘Regarding Item 2.1, what position is being considered in the Executive Session? Parents deserve to know who you are hiring or firing.’

💰 Impact: Reduced Board Transparency
