Heads up! Our parent watchdogs have scanned the upcoming agenda for Berea City. We found 3 items that need your immediate attention before the vote.
| 🚨 HIGH CONCERN (LEVEL 10) |
|
On-Site Medical Clinic Bypassing Parents
The district is piloting an on-site medical clinic with the Cleveland Clinic under the guise of ‘Behavioral Health and Wellness.’ The proposal (Item E.1) goes far beyond counseling, outlining plans for physicals, chronic care management, and future ‘routine & seasonal vaccines’ and ‘acute medication offerings.’ This positions the school to provide medical services without a parent present, undermining parental authority over their children’s healthcare. The presentation also reveals a massive data-gathering operation already in place, with 114 ‘Threat Assessments’ and 246 clinical referrals to outside agencies last year through a ‘Multi-Tiered Support Framework.’
Recommended Action Plan
PACK THE ROOM: This is a plan to put a full-service medical clinic inside our schools. Call Board President Ana Chapman at (216) 898-8300 and sign up for public comment: ‘We do not co-parent with the Cleveland Clinic. Parents, not schools, are in charge of our children’s healthcare. Vote NO on the Med Clinic Pilot.’
💰 Taxpayer Impact: Establishes school as a healthcare provider, eroding parental medical consent.

Taxpayer-Funded Lawsuit Against School Choice
The minutes from the June 30th meeting, being approved under Item G.1, reveal the Board paid $10,470 to ‘The Ohio Coalition for Equity and Adequacy of School Funding.’ This payment enrolls the district in a lawsuit against school vouchers. This is a direct use of our local tax dollars to fund political lobbying that fights against the right of parents to choose the best educational setting for their children.
Recommended Action Plan
DEMAND ANSWERS: Call Board President Ana Chapman at (216) 898-8300: ‘Why did the Board vote on June 30th to spend over $10,000 in taxpayer money to sue the state over school vouchers? The district’s job is to educate children, not to lobby against parental rights.’
💰 Taxpayer Impact: $10,470

| ⚠️ NEEDS REVIEW (LEVEL 7) |

Hidden Social-Emotional Learning Contract
Buried in the Treasurer’s consent agenda (Item F.6), the Board is approving an $82,707 contract with ‘Wraparound Experts, LLC’ to provide ‘social-emotional learning’ and mental health staff to a local private school using public funds. ‘Wraparound’ services are an invasive model of intervention that often extends beyond the classroom and into the family, blurring the lines between school and home. Hiding this ideological vendor in a bundled vote prevents public discussion and scrutiny.
Recommended Action Plan
DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: Call Treasurer Jill Rowe at (216) 898-8300: ‘I demand Item F.6 be pulled from the Consent Agenda for a separate discussion and vote. Parents deserve to know who ‘Wraparound Experts’ are and why we are paying them over $82,000 for social-emotional learning programs.’
💰 Taxpayer Impact: $82,707.24
