🚨 HIGH CONCERN (LEVEL 10)
Hiding Social-Emotional Engineering in the Bills List
📅 July 28, 2026
The district’s check register (Item 11.B.3) includes a payment of $8,637.30 to ‘Committee for Children.’ This is the creator of the controversial ‘Second Step’ Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum. This isn’t a pilot program up for debate; it’s a payment for a program that teaches children subjective values and emotional responses, often without direct parental oversight. This is how social engineering gets embedded in the classroom, paid for with our tax dollars and hidden from public view in a long list of bills.
Recommended Action Plan

PACK THE ROOM: We need 50 moms at Tuesday’s meeting. Sign up for public comment and email the Board of Education: ‘We do not co-parent with the government. I demand to know why the district is paying for the Second Step SEL program from Committee for Children without a public curriculum hearing. Pull Item 11.B.3 from the Consent Agenda for a full discussion and roll-call vote.’

💰 Taxpayer Impact: $8,637.30
🚨 HIGH CONCERN (LEVEL 9)
Eliminating Parental Opt-Out for Sex Abuse Lessons
📅 Vote Scheduled July 28, 2026
Under the guise of a routine policy update (Item 12.F, Policy 4:165), the board is voting to eliminate a key parental right. A change in state law is being used as justification to remove parents’ ability to object to and opt their children out of ‘age-appropriate’ sexual abuse and grooming prevention curriculum. This means the district, not parents, will have the final say on what sensitive content your K-8 child is taught on this topic, removing a critical layer of parental consent.
Recommended Action Plan

PACK THE ROOM: Sign up for public comment. Email the Board of Education: ‘Parents must have the final say on sensitive curriculum. I demand you preserve the parental right to opt-out of the instruction covered in Policy 4:165. Vote NO on the policy changes in Item 12.F.’

💰 Taxpayer Impact: Loss of Parental Rights
🚨 HIGH CONCERN (LEVEL 8)
Trojan Horse English Curriculum Enters Classrooms
📅 Vote Scheduled July 28, 2026
The board is approving a pilot for new K-5 English Language Arts curriculum, including ‘Great Minds, Arts & Letters’ (Item 12.G). This curriculum, known elsewhere as ‘Wit & Wisdom,’ has been criticized by parents nationwide for replacing classic literature and phonics with emotionally charged, politically-slanted content that focuses on social issues rather than reading skills. This pilot is the first step to a district-wide adoption that could fundamentally change what reading class looks like for every elementary student.
Recommended Action Plan

DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: Email the Board of Education: ‘Regarding Item 12.G, I demand that all pilot materials for Great Minds/Arts & Letters be made available for parental review immediately. We will not approve a curriculum that prioritizes social engineering over fundamental reading skills.’

💰 Taxpayer Impact: $46,572.29 (Pilot Program Cost)
🚨 HIGH CONCERN (LEVEL 8)
Outsourcing At-Risk Students to Regional Program
📅 Vote Scheduled July 28, 2026
The board is approving an agreement (Item 12.E) to send students ‘at risk of academic failure’ to an alternative program run by the Lake County Regional Office of Education. The program’s stated focus is on ‘social-emotional supports’ and ‘health and support services,’ not core academics. This creates a separate, less transparent school system for students with academic or behavioral struggles, placing them in an environment heavy on intervention and light on direct parental oversight and local control.
Recommended Action Plan

DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: Email the Board of Education: ‘Regarding Item 12.E, what specific criteria will be used to send a child to the ALOP program? What is the curriculum, and how will parents be involved in the ‘Student Success Plan’? We must not outsource our students to programs that lack transparency.’

💰 Taxpayer Impact: Loss of Local Control and Parental Oversight
👀 MONITOR (LEVEL 5)
New Gatekeeper Role Created in ‘Student Services’
📅 Vote Scheduled July 28, 2026
Buried in the Consent Agenda (Item 11.C.3) is an update to the ‘Registrar/Administrative Assistant for Student Services’ job description. This role, which handles sensitive student records for special education and 504 plans, is being moved out of the union and reports directly to the Director of Student Services. ‘Student Services’ is the department that typically runs SEL, mental health, and other ‘whole child’ initiatives. This structural change creates a new non-union gatekeeper for sensitive student data and intervention programs, reducing oversight.
Recommended Action Plan

OPT-OUT ALERT: Email the Board of Education: ‘Regarding Item 11.C.3, I demand this item be pulled from the Consent Agenda for a separate vote. Why is a key data-handling position being moved out of the union, and what new ‘Student Services’ initiatives will this role support?’

💰 Taxpayer Impact: Structural Change Bypassing Union Oversight
