⚠️ NEEDS REVIEW (LEVEL 7)
Gag Rule: Board Limits Parent Voices to Just 20 Minutes
📅 Ongoing Policy, Effective July 28, 2026 Meeting
The board’s own agenda documents (Items B.1 and E.1) reveal a policy that caps the entire public comment period at a total of 20 minutes. This means only six or seven parents can speak at any given meeting, regardless of how many show up. This is a deliberate tactic to silence community input and rush through controversial items without public scrutiny.
Recommended Action Plan

DEMAND TO BE HEARD: Use your 3 minutes to demand they expand the 20-minute total time limit. Email the Board of Trustees: ‘Your 20-minute limit on public comment is an insult to parents and a violation of the spirit of open meetings. We demand you agendize a vote to remove this restrictive cap at the next meeting.’ Members should verify board contact information on the district website.

💰 Taxpayer Impact: Your right to speak.
👀 MONITOR (LEVEL 5)
School District Playing Social Justice Warrior with Tax Dollars
📅 Discussion Scheduled July 28, 2026
The Board is meeting in a closed session (Item C.8) to discuss initiating a massive lawsuit against social media companies for ‘adolescent addiction.’ While social media is a concern, this is a major distraction from the district’s core mission. The board should be focused on improving reading and math scores, not playing politics and turning our school district into a law firm.
Recommended Action Plan

DEMAND FOCUS ON ACADEMICS: Email the Board of Trustees: ‘Regarding Item C.8, I urge the board to abandon its plan to sue social media companies and focus 100% of its resources on academic excellence. Stop the mission creep and get back to basics.’ Members should verify board contact information on the district website.

💰 Taxpayer Impact: Unknown legal fees and diversion of staff time from education to litigation.
