Heads up! Our parent watchdogs have scanned the upcoming agenda for TAFT ISD. We found 4 items that need your immediate attention before the vote.
🚨 HIGH CONCERN (LEVEL 9)
Secret Changes to Student Code of Conduct
📅 July 27, 2026
Under Item 7.D, the Board is scheduled to approve the 2026-2027 Student Code of Conduct. This is a critical document that dictates policies on discipline, dress code, and student rights. However, the proposed Code of Conduct has not been attached to the agenda for public review. This is a major transparency violation, as this is precisely where districts insert controversial policies on gender identity, pronouns, bathroom access, and ‘restorative’ discipline that can compromise student safety and parental rights.
Recommended Action Plan

PACK THE ROOM: This is a critical vote. Email the Board and demand they postpone the vote on Item 7.D until the full text of the proposed Student Code of Conduct is released to the public for a 30-day review period. Advise members to check the district website for board member emails.

💰 Taxpayer Impact: Loss of parental authority and student safety through unvetted policy changes.
🚨 HIGH CONCERN (LEVEL 8)
Bundled Contracts Hide Potential SEL and Health Services
📅 July 27, 2026
Item 7.E bundles three separate, vague contracts with regional Education Service Centers (ESCs) for a single vote. The contracts are for ‘Program & Services,’ ‘Health & Nursing,’ and ‘Skyward Student Supplemental Support.’ These generic titles are classic Trojan horses for bringing in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum, DEI training, or health services that operate without parental consent. By bundling them and not providing the contract details, the board is preventing proper public scrutiny.
Recommended Action Plan

DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: Email the Board to demand that Item 7.E be un-bundled so each contract can be discussed and voted on separately. Insist that the full text of all three contracts be made public before any vote is taken. Advise members to check the district website for board member emails.

💰 Taxpayer Impact: Unknown financial cost for programs that may introduce ideological content and undermine parental consent in student health.
⚠️ NEEDS REVIEW (LEVEL 6)
Bypassing Voters to Appoint a New Board Member
📅 July 27, 2026
The Board is considering how to fill a vacant trustee seat under Item 7.C. Choosing to appoint a replacement, rather than hold a special election, allows the current board majority to hand-pick an ally who shares their agenda. This denies the community their right to vote for their own representative and can entrench an ideology that parents may not support.
Recommended Action Plan

DEFEND YOUR VOTE: Email the Board and urge them to honor the democratic process by calling for a special election to fill the vacancy under Item 7.C. Tell them the community deserves to choose its representative, not have one appointed for them. Advise members to check the district website for board member emails.

💰 Taxpayer Impact: Loss of voter representation and community oversight.
ALERT (LEVEL 4)
First Look at Changes to Gifted & Talented Program
📅 July 27, 2026
Item 7.F is a review of the Gifted & Talented Handbook. While this is not yet a vote, it is the first stage where ideological concepts of ‘equity’ are often introduced to justify dismantling advanced academic programs. Parents must monitor this to ensure that academic excellence is not sacrificed for social engineering and that high-achieving students are not held back.
Recommended Action Plan

REQUEST THE DOCUMENT: Email the district administration and request a copy of the Gifted & Talented Handbook being reviewed in Item 7.F. Scrutinize it for any language that suggests a shift away from academic rigor toward ‘equal outcomes.’ Advise members to check the district website for contact information.

💰 Taxpayer Impact: Potential future degradation of advanced academic programs.
