Heads up! Our parent watchdogs have scanned the upcoming agenda for DELANO PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT. We found 3 items that need your immediate attention before the vote.
| 🚨 HIGH CONCERN (LEVEL 9) |
|
Hiring an Ideological Gatekeeper to Pick the Next Superintendent
The Board is voting to hire superintendent search firm ‘Ray & Associates.’ Their official proposal (Item 12.D) is a DEI Trojan horse, promising an ‘equitable, accessible, and inclusive’ process that prioritizes recruiting ‘BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and other underrepresented’ candidates. The firm explicitly states it will focus on ‘lived experiences’ and address ‘implicit bias,’ meaning they will filter applicants through an ideological lens before our elected board ever sees them. This ensures the next leader will be chosen based on identity politics, not necessarily on being the most qualified person to run our schools.
Recommended Action Plan
PACK THE ROOM: This is a critical decision that will affect our district for the next decade. Email the School Board and demand they choose a search firm committed to merit, not political agendas. Urge them to vote NO on Item 12.D and find a firm that values academic excellence above all.
💰 Taxpayer Impact: $20,000+ Professional Fee

Student Surveillance System Hidden in a Bundled Vote
Buried in the ‘List of Bills’ (Item 6.B.10) on the Consent Agenda is a $16,843.80 payment to Renaissance Learning for their ‘FastBridge’ software. This is not a simple software purchase; FastBridge is a universal screening tool used to collect sensitive academic, social, and emotional data on students for the district’s ‘Multi-Tiered System of Supports’ (MTSS) program. These systems can lead to psychological interventions without full parental knowledge. A contract for a student data-mining system should never be hidden in a routine bill payment list and passed without public discussion.
Recommended Action Plan
DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: Email the School Board to pull the Renaissance Learning / FastBridge payment from the Consent Agenda (Item 6) for a separate discussion and roll-call vote. Ask them: ‘What specific social-emotional data is FastBridge collecting on our children, who has access to it, and where is the opt-out form for parents?’
💰 Taxpayer Impact: $16,843.80 (plus $19,893.75 for related ‘training’)

| 👀 MONITOR (LEVEL 5) |
|
Surrendering Local Control of School Sports and Activities
Under Item 12.A, the Board is voting to renew its membership in the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL). The resolution forces our district to adopt all MSHSL bylaws, rules, and regulations as ‘minimum standards.’ This means if the MSHSL, a statewide body, passes controversial policies on issues like gender identity in sports or other politically charged topics, our local board has already agreed to enforce them. This is a pre-emptive surrender of local control over our school’s athletics and activities programs.
Recommended Action Plan
ASK QUESTIONS: Email the School Board: ‘Regarding Item 12.A, have you reviewed all current MSHSL bylaws for potential conflicts with our community’s values? What is the process for our district to reject a specific MSHSL mandate without being forced to leave the league entirely?’
💰 Taxpayer Impact: Loss of Local Control
