Heads up! Our parent watchdogs have scanned the upcoming agenda for CELINA ISD. We found 4 items that need your immediate attention before the vote.
| 🚨 HIGH CONCERN (LEVEL 9) |

Banning Secret Social Transitioning in Schools
The Board is voting on Policy Update 127, which includes a new rule, DH (LOCAL), that explicitly prohibits any school employee from assisting a child with ‘social transitioning’ (changing their name, pronouns, etc.) without parental knowledge. The policy also formally bans employees from engaging in or being assigned Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) duties, aligning district rules with state law.
Recommended Action Plan
PACK THE ROOM TO SUPPORT PARENTAL RIGHTS: We need parents at the July 27th meeting to support Item 10.A. Email the Board and advise them to check the district website for contact information: ‘I strongly support the proposed changes in Policy DH (LOCAL) to ban secret social transitioning and DEI duties. Please vote YES on Policy Update 127 to protect our children and our rights.’

Giving Parents Veto Power Over Library Books
Under agenda item 10.B, the Board is voting to create a new ‘School Library Advisory Council’ (SLAC). This resolution mandates that the majority of the committee’s voting members must be parents who are not employed by the district. This new parent-led council will have the power to review and recommend which books are purchased and which inappropriate materials are removed from school libraries.
Recommended Action Plan
SUPPORT PARENT-LED LIBRARIES: Show up on July 27th to support Item 10.B. Email the Board and advise them to check the district website for contact information: ‘I support the creation of a parent-majority School Library Advisory Council. It’s time for transparency and parental oversight in our libraries. Please vote YES on the SLAC resolution.’

District Seeking Exemption from State Law on Armed Guards
Hidden in the Consent Agenda (Item 11.D), the district is voting on a resolution to declare a ‘good cause exception’ to a state law (HB 3) that requires an armed security officer on every campus. The district claims it cannot comply due to a lack of funding and qualified personnel, and is proposing an ‘alternative’ safety plan.
Recommended Action Plan
DEMAND ANSWERS ON SCHOOL SAFETY: Email the Board and advise them to check the district website for contact information: ‘Regarding Item 11.D, why is the district unable to comply with state law to place an armed officer at every school? Our children’s safety is not optional. Pull this from the Consent Agenda and explain to parents exactly what the funding shortfall is and what the alternative standard means for my child’s campus.’

Hospital CEOs Influencing Student Health Curriculum
The Board is set to approve the membership list for the Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) under Item 11.C. The proposed chair is the CEO of Cook Children’s Hospital, and another member is the CEO of Methodist Celina. This committee makes recommendations on sensitive health topics, including curriculum for family violence and mental health.
Recommended Action Plan
DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: Email the Board and advise them to check the district website for contact information: ‘Regarding Item 11.C, why are multiple hospital CEOs leading the committee that advises on our children’s health curriculum? Parents must be the primary voice on the SHAC. Please pull this item from the Consent Agenda for a full discussion on committee appointments.’
