Heads up! Our parent watchdogs have scanned the upcoming agenda for Township of Ocean School District. We found 5 items that need your immediate attention before the vote.
🚨 HIGH CONCERN (LEVEL 10)
New ‘Equity’ Policy Mandates Student Group Balancing and Sex Ed by ‘Gender Identity’
📅 First Reading on July 28, 2026
The Board is introducing a new ‘Equity’ policy (P 2260) that forces the district to balance student groups by race (‘attaining…minority representation, that approximates the district’s overall minority representation’). It also explicitly allows for separating children by ‘gender identity’ for human sexuality classes. This policy, required by the state’s ‘Comprehensive Equity Plan,’ replaces equal opportunity with a focus on equal outcomes and embeds gender ideology into health class structure.
Recommended Action Plan

PACK THE ROOM: This is a First Reading. We can stop it. Sign up for public comment for the July 28 meeting. Email the Board of Education: ‘Vote NO on Policy 2260. Our schools must focus on academic excellence and equal opportunity for all, not racial balancing and gender ideology. Parents do not consent to separating children by gender identity for sex education.’

💰 Taxpayer Impact: Future costs for ‘Equity Audits,’ consultants, and staff training to implement these mandates.
🚨 HIGH CONCERN (LEVEL 9)
Rewriting School Counseling to Align with ‘Equity’ and National Activist Standards
📅 First Reading on July 28, 2026
The Board is voting on a new policy (P 2411) that overhauls the school counseling program to meet the requirements of the state’s ‘Comprehensive Equity Plan.’ It formally adopts the standards of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), a group known for promoting social justice and gender ideology in schools. This policy will influence everything from career advice to personal counseling, potentially without parental knowledge or consent.
Recommended Action Plan

DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: This is a First Reading. Email the Board of Education: ‘I oppose the adoption of activist standards from the American School Counselor Association in Policy 2411. School counseling must be academically focused and politically neutral. I demand to know which specific ‘biased or stereotyped’ materials will be removed and what will replace them.’

💰 Taxpayer Impact: Adoption of ideologically-driven counseling curriculum and materials.
🚨 HIGH CONCERN (LEVEL 8)
University Agreements Create Pipeline for Activist Counselors and Social Workers
📅 Vote Scheduled July 28, 2026
The Board is approving agreements (Items 10.5, 10.8) that allow university students from Kean’s ‘Counselor Education’ and Rutgers’ ‘Department of Social Work’ to serve as interns in our schools. These university departments often train students in controversial theories like social justice, anti-racism, and gender ideology. This creates a pipeline for ideologically-driven activists to work directly with our children in sensitive counseling and social work settings, outside of the normal hiring process.
Recommended Action Plan

DEMAND VETTING: Email the Board of Education: ‘Regarding Items 10.5 and 10.8, what is the district’s vetting process for university interns? Parents have a right to know the ideological frameworks these interns are trained in before they are allowed access to our students. I request these agreements be tabled pending a full public review of the university’s curriculum.’

💰 Taxpayer Impact: Unvetted, ideologically-trained personnel interacting with students.
⚠️ NEEDS REVIEW (LEVEL 7)
Hiding Who the District is Hiring and Firing
📅 Vote Scheduled July 28, 2026
The agenda’s entire Personnel section (Items 8.1 through 8.14) lists votes on resignations, new contracts, and leaves of absence without any attached documents identifying the individuals involved. The public has a right to know who the district is hiring to teach their children and how their tax dollars are being spent on salaries. This lack of transparency is unacceptable and prevents parents from vetting new hires.
Recommended Action Plan

DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: Email the Board of Education: ‘I demand that all personnel actions under Section 8 have their supporting documents with names and positions made public before the vote. The community deserves full transparency on who is being hired with our tax dollars.’

💰 Taxpayer Impact: Undisclosed salaries and contracts.
⚠️ NEEDS REVIEW (LEVEL 6)
Accepting $805,000 in Federal Grants with No Details
📅 Vote Scheduled July 28, 2026
The Board is voting to accept $805,112 in federal ESEA grants (Item 9.8), but the agenda admits that details on how the money will be spent on ‘Salary and staff’ are not yet available. These federal grants often come with ideological strings attached, funding DEI coordinators or SEL programs. By accepting the money now without a public plan, the Board is committing taxpayers to a program parents haven’t seen.
Recommended Action Plan

DEMAND ANSWERS: Email the Board of Education: ‘Regarding Item 9.8, I demand a full public accounting of the positions and programs that will be funded by this $805,112 ESEA grant before it is accepted. We must know what federal mandates are attached to this money. Do not approve a blank check.’

💰 Taxpayer Impact: $805,112 (Federal Strings Attached)
