Student Data Review Raises Privacy Questions
📅 November 2, 2026
The board will hold a workshop to review ‘Fall Student Data.’ While reviewing academic data is standard, this vague title could also include sensitive, non-academic student information from ‘climate surveys’ or social-emotional learning (SEL) assessments, which may be collected without full parental transparency.
Response

ATTEND & ASK QUESTIONS: Attend the workshop on November 2nd. During public comment for Item 1.C, ask the board: ‘Regarding Item 2, what specific data points are being reviewed? Please confirm that this review does not include non-academic data from SEL or ‘climate’ surveys, and clarify the parental consent process for all data collection.’
