Heads up! Our parent watchdogs have scanned the upcoming agenda for Darnall Charter District. We found 2 items that need your immediate attention before the vote.
🚨 HIGH CONCERN (LEVEL 8)
New Rules to Limit Parent Voices at Board Meetings
📅 Vote Scheduled July 27, 2026
The board is voting on a new “School Board Meetings Policy” (Item 6.B, Policy #1002) that gives the Board Chair new powers to control public comment. Under these rules, if a large group of parents shows up to speak on one issue, the Chair can reduce everyone’s speaking time, effectively silencing organized opposition. The policy also uses broad definitions of “disruptive conduct” that could be used to remove a parent from the meeting for being passionate or going a few seconds over their allotted time. This is a structural change designed to make it harder for parents to hold the board accountable.
Recommended Action Plan

DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: This policy impacts every parent’s right to speak. Email the Board of Directors: ‘I am concerned that Policy #1002 gives the Board Chair too much power to limit public comment. The definitions of ‘disruptive conduct’ are too broad and could be used to silence parents. I demand this item be discussed publicly, not just passed as a routine action. We must protect, not restrict, public participation.’ Parents should verify board member emails on the district website.

💰 Taxpayer Impact: Loss of Parental Voice
ALERT (LEVEL 4)
School Monitoring of ‘Chronic Absenteeism’
📅 Presented July 27, 2026
The Executive Director’s update (Item 4.A) announces a new “focus on attendance and chronic absenteeism.” While this sounds routine, these programs are often the first step toward increased school surveillance of families, sometimes leading to home visits and intrusive data collection on family life, all without parental consent. The update also uses vague terms like “Culture and Climate,” which can be a cover for implementing social-emotional learning (SEL) or other ideological programs.
Recommended Action Plan

ASK QUESTIONS NOW: Email the Board of Directors: ‘Regarding the Executive Director’s update, what specific programs, vendors, or policies will be used to address ‘chronic absenteeism’ and ‘culture and climate’? Will these programs involve student surveys, data collection on families, or home visits? Parents must be informed and have the right to opt-out before any such program is implemented.’ Parents should verify board member emails on the district website.
