NEEDS REVIEW (LEVEL 6)
Potential Changes to Public Comment Rules
📅 October 30, 2026
The committee is addressing ‘Open Community Participation (Policy 2:230)’ immediately after discussing board ‘practices.’ This could be a sign that they are considering changes to the rules for public comment, potentially limiting speaking time or topics.
Recommended Action Plan

DEFEND YOUR VOICE: Attend the meeting and be prepared to speak during ‘Open Community Participation’ (Item 5). Urge the committee to protect and expand, not restrict, parents’ right to be heard by the board. Ask directly: ‘Are you considering any changes to Policy 2:230 that would limit public comment?’

💰 Impact: Silencing Parents
ALERT (LEVEL 4)
Vague Discussion on Board ‘Practices’
📅 October 30, 2026
The Board Operations Committee is holding a discussion on its ‘Common Practices.’ This is often where changes to public comment rules, board oversight, and how policies are made are first introduced before they come up for a full board vote.
Recommended Action Plan

ATTEND & REPORT: This is a committee meeting where new rules are often born. We need a mom to attend this meeting, take notes on the ‘Common Practices’ discussion under Item 4, and report back to the chapter on any proposed changes to public comment or board procedures.

💰 Impact: Reduced Parental Voice
