Heads up! We have scanned the upcoming agenda for Cascade Union Elementary. We found 2 items that need your immediate attention before the vote.
NEEDS REVIEW (LEVEL 7)
Board Restricts Public Comment to 5 Speakers Per Item
πŸ“… October 27, 2026
The board’s published ‘Rules for Conduct’ limit public comment to only five speakers per action item and ten speakers for general comment. This rule can be used to shut down parent opposition on controversial topics by preventing most parents in the room from speaking.
Recommended Action Plan

Contact the District Office (see the Official Agenda link) and demand the Board remove these arbitrary limits on public participation. ‘Parents will not be silenced. The First Amendment guarantees our right to petition our government, and that includes our elected school board. We demand these restrictive public comment rules be rescinded.’

πŸ’° Impact: Suppressed Parent Voices
MONITOR (LEVEL 5)
District Seeks Outside Vendors for After-School Program
πŸ“… October 27, 2026
The district is issuing a ‘Request for Proposals for ELOP Program’ (Item 7), which is the state’s Expanded Learning Opportunities Program. This opens the door for third-party vendors to run after-school and summer programs, which are often used to introduce Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and other ideologies outside of the normal curriculum review process.
Recommended Action Plan

Contact the Superintendent and Board (see the Official Agenda link for contact info) before the October 27th meeting. ‘Regarding Item 7, the RFP for the ELOP Program, we demand the Board prioritize vendors focused on academic tutoring and enrichment, and explicitly reject any proposals that include Social Emotional Learning (SEL), ‘whole child’ frameworks, or student data-gathering. Parents must be allowed to review all vendor materials before a contract is signed.’
