WARNING (LEVEL 7)
District to Support Nominee for Taxpayer-Funded Lobby Group
📅 November 2, 2026
The board will vote on supporting a nominee for the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Board of Directors. TASB is a taxpayer-funded organization that lobbies the state legislature, often against property tax relief and for increased government spending. This action deepens the district’s ties to a group that works against taxpayer interests in Austin.
Response

DEMAND A RECORDED VOTE: Contact the Hidalgo ISD Board before the meeting. ‘Regarding Item XIV.A, I urge you to vote NO on supporting any nominee for the TASB Board. Our district should not use its resources to support an organization that lobbies against taxpayers in Austin.’

Vague ‘Strategic Staffing’ Plan with Regional Center
📅 November 2, 2026
The board will vote to approve a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Region One for a ‘Texas Strategic Staffing’ program. The details of this program, its costs, and its long-term obligations are not disclosed in the agenda, which could introduce new consultant-driven initiatives without public scrutiny.
Response

DEMAND THE DETAILS: Contact the Hidalgo ISD Board. ‘Before voting on Item VIII.A, the ‘Strategic Staffing’ MOU, please publish the full document and explain the total cost, deliverables, and any ongoing financial obligations for the district.’
